WHEELS ON THE BUS GO ROUND AND ROUND

Already, during this year, we have had over 20 Chicago school students shot and several of them killed by shootings. Some of the the shootings occurred on School yards, most of them have occurred on the Streets. It is truly a sad state of affairs that needs to be dealt with, with a strong reaction.

The reaction so far by our State politicians, leave one wondering how it is that the inmates began running the Asylum. Case in point. Yesterday, several of Chicago's State Senator's and Represenatives boarded Buses bound for the State Capitol to go Lobby for stronger Gun laws! The rest of this Blog entry will deal with the death of common sense and how badly it is missed.

Last I checked, it is illegal to shoot anyone with a gun of any kind, outside of self-defense. So what, exactly, would stronger gun laws do to stem the tide of people who are breaking the law? Can you make a gun law with a penalty more severe than Murder? So now, all of the sudden, Gang members and street thugs are just going to turn in their Guns because a new law may be passed? Idiocy!

Perhaps a more effective measure would be for these Same politicians to board Buses and travel to the most dangerous areas of town, get out and talk with our Kids, walk some of them home and show that they care. I am sure they will do just that, just as soon as they get stricter gun laws passed! (sigh)

Passing more gun laws in an effort to stem violent behavior is like taking Donuts to a Dieter's convention. It don't stand a chance.

  • are we all, once again, forgetting that parents should be involved in this mess?
These are kids shooting kids. Are the freaking guns disappearing into thin air before and after the shootings?
Parents and friends are the ones that need to wake up not the politicians.

  • No, I am fully aware that Politics is not the answer for this problem. I just wish the politicians were aware of it too. Our tax dollars funded the Bus, paid the Goobers salaries for a wasted day and probably fed them at least two meals. It would be more effective for them to simply walk their own neighborhoods.

  • And as much as I DESPISE guns, I'm with "tenacious" on this one. Parents need to start being parents once again....they should know when, where and why their children are where they are at any given time.

  • I don't disagree at all. But on the other hand, if we think that all of the shooting is being done by the Children then we are not facing reality either. I do attempt to stay away from sweeping generalities as every case is always different.

The purpose of the post is not actually about the shootings, as dreadful as they are. The purpose of the post is about a wasted and ineffective day by our Politicians. The main point being, if we are already breaking the law, what will more laws do?

The problem has many doorsteps to lay on, from neglectful parenting to a lack of enforcement of current laws. But we can't rightfully say that every shooting is the neglect of bad parenting. (not that either of you have)
